Ostreme Centre

A Brief History

1973 – 1978 fund raising events were held to raise money for a community centre in Mumbles. The 'Ostreme Festival' became a major attraction in the village, with 9 days of activities including a pageant, Art & begun and began difference Craft exhibitions and out door productions staged in the grounds of Oystermouth Castle. As a result Ostreme Community Association was formed.

1978 Ostreme Community Association obtained a 35 year lease from All Saints Church Oystermouth to refurbish their derelict church hall and run it as a community centre. This lease will expire in 2013; we are in the process of negotiating terms for a new lease. Currently the Association pays £7000 annual ground rent to lease the building and is responsible for all the running and maintenance costs.

1980 After major work, Ostreme Centre opened to the public as an independent community hall managed by volunteers who currently meet every two months.
