Launching in September 2026, the Underhill Grassroots Growth Fund is a new grant scheme designed to support local grassroots and community sports organisations.
Eligible clubs can receive grant funding equivalent to 10% of eligible expenditure recorded at the Underhill Hub café and bar, excluding VAT.
Who can apply?
The Fund is open to constituted, not-for-profit grassroots and community sports organisations that meet the scheme’s eligibility requirements.
Clubs must register and be approved before their members’ and supporters’ purchases can begin contributing towards a grant award.
How does it work?
Once registered, each participating club will receive Grassroots Growth loyalty cards for its members and supporters.
When purchasing eligible food or drinks from the Underhill Hub café, members and supporters simply present their club’s loyalty card or QR code. The eligible purchase will then be recorded against their club.
At the end of each quarter, the total eligible recorded expenditure for each club will be calculated. The club will receive a grant equivalent to 10% of that expenditure, excluding VAT, subject to the scheme’s terms, continued eligibility and the total funding available.
What could your club receive?
£20,000 in eligible recorded expenditure, excluding VAT, could generate a £2,000 grant for your club.
What can the funding support?
Grant funding can be used to support approved club-development activities, including:
- Coaching and training
- Sports equipment
- Volunteer development
- Marketing and promotion
- Increasing participation
- Community engagement
- Other approved activities that support the development of the club
Important information
- Clubs must register and be approved before participating.
- Participating clubs must not have any outstanding debts with Mumbles Community Council.
- Only eligible purchases recorded using a valid Grassroots Growth loyalty card will count.
- Loyalty cards must be presented at the time of purchase.
- Grant awards will be calculated and paid quarterly.
- Clubs must provide a short annual report explaining how their funding has been used.
- All awards are subject to continued eligibility and the total approved funding available.
- The Grassroots Growth Fund is a grant scheme and does not provide individual cashback or reimbursement.
