Mumbles to hold ‘Schools Community Council’

Mumbles Community Council is organising a ‘School’s Community Council’, where pupils from six of the local primary schools will have their chance to say how they would like to improve the community.

Each school will send two representatives from their own School Council to the event which takes place at Mayals Primary School this Friday (30 January 2015).

Each school council will submit two ideas – one for an event and one to improve the facilities for the community in Mumbles. During the event their representatives will the ideas and discuss them, with the minimum input from adults.

At the Schools Community Council the representatives will choose three or more ideas which they will then present to a special meeting of Mumbles Community Council.

Council Chairman, Cllr Helen Mitchell, said: “We hope to inspire children to take a greater interest in their community and we are really looking-forward to seeing what ideas they come up with”.
