Following a PACT meeting where concerns were raised about the nuisance being caused by young people around the village, it was recognised that there is a real need for better provision for them.
A Skatepark was suggested as being a popular and healthy option that would be very attractive to skateboarders of all ages. MCC undertook a Survey and received over 400 responses. The responses were overwhelmingly positive and consultations with local schools were similarly in favour. Local schoolchildren have also been busy coming up with ideas for what it should look like.
The location has not yet been finalised but the preferred option is to locate it alongside the existing Skateboard Ramp on Mumbles Road, between Blackpill and West Cross.
As with any major project there is still much planning to be done as well as a need to identify additional sources of funding for it, but we hope to cover the initial work in the coming year.
Once built there will be no on-going maintenance costs required from MCC.
