Newton Road, Mumbles is set to be even busier with traffic, when Tesco Store opens at the former shop, known for about 50 years as Treasure and situated on the corner of Walters Crescent and Newton Road.
One letter to the Planning Authority claimed that the pavement outside the property “has the highest footfall of any in Oystermouth, with not only pedestrians but parents with children in prams and pushcahirs also disabled in wheelchairs.”
What with the already very heavy traffic usage through Newton Road and vehicles stopping outside Greggs, also illegal parking outside the three banks in the road. This will cause additional chaos in an already very busy throughfare.
(Editors comment) It needs a rethink about the traffic flow on a one-way system, up Queens Road and down Newton Road perhaps?
