It is reported in the Evening Post, 13 July that residents who organised a street party to celebrate the 7oth anniversary of VE day, also the birth of Princess Charlotte have been charged £275 for the road closure costs.
The City and County of Swansea have told the residents of St. Peter’s Road Newton that they will have to bear the cost of the of the fees for the road closure, costing £275.
A spokesperson for Swansea Council told the Eveing Post reporter, Nino Williams, that “Fees for road closures were agreed at the beginning of the year for such events. The fee is to ensure that Council can recover the costs for officers time and legal costs”.
